1.1Health Minister reports 9,200 monthly calls to CNS chasing case status
Health and Social Security Minister Martine Deprez, replying to a parliamentary question, stated that the CNS receives roughly 2,470 calls per day, of which about 17% — some 420 daily, or approximately 9,200 per month — are requests to follow up on a pending file. The ministry described the figures as approximate estimates. Deprez stated that such calls are not subject to any legal or regulatory processing deadline, while CNS staff seek to handle them as quickly as possible. The CNS plans to progressively digitalise document exchange with insured persons and healthcare providers. A customer relationship management system is planned that would let users check file status and receive alerts on missing documents.

1.2Aptitude test abolished for municipal civil service recruitment from 1 September
Luxembourg is removing the general aptitude examination from competitive entry procedures for communal public service posts, with the change taking effect on 1 September 2026. Candidates will now only need to pass the admissibility examination specific to their career track. Examinations already passed remain valid, and newly passed examinations are valid for five years. The FGFC, the federation representing municipal staff, backed the change, describing previous procedures as long and poorly coordinated, and said candidates frequently accepted state posts while municipal hiring was still ongoing. The FGFC has asked for harmonisation of recruitment procedures between state and communal employers, simplified internal mobility, and action on differing employment conditions for comparable roles.

1.3CNS medicine price list shows increases of up to 265% since 2023
The Caisse nationale de santé published an updated medicine price list covering 5,233 products, of which 44.4% cost more in 2026 than in 2023, with an average increase of 1.83%. Of the tracked products, 2,322 rose in price, 618 fell and 2,293 were unchanged. The largest recorded rise was B. Braun's Ringer-Lactat infusion solution, from €16.38 to €59.82 per pack (+265.2%), with other B. Braun infusion products up between 149.5% and 182.4%. Over the same period B. Braun's pre-tax profit rose from €206m to €460.9m. The largest fall was generic pomalidomide, down 72.99% after patent expiry. Competitor Fresenius Kabi did not raise its Luxembourg prices over the period.

2.1Delles to join Luxembourg panel on European economic integration on 30 September
Europa-Union Luxembourg and the Young European Federalists Luxembourg announced an event titled "United to Grow — Unlocking Europe's Economic Potential Through Integration", scheduled for 30 September 2026 at 18:30 at Europa Experience in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. Minister of the Economy Lex Delles is listed as a participant. He will appear alongside Skerdi Zanaj of the University of Luxembourg and Merete Clausen of the European Investment Fund. 2.2Economy Minister Delles attends groundbreaking for cross-border mosaHYc hydrogen pipeline
Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism Lex Delles attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the mosaHYc (Moselle-Saar Hydrogen Conversion) project on 28 August 2026 in Wallerfangen, Saarland, Germany. The ceremony was organised by Creos Deutschland GmbH. The German section runs approximately 17 kilometres from Leidingen to Dillingen and is intended to carry renewable and low-carbon hydrogen from France to industrial sites in the Greater Region. Attendees included Saarland Minister-President Anke Rehlinger, German Parliamentary State Secretary Johannes Steiniger, Greater Region Vice-President François Werner, Encevo CEO Claude Seywert and Creos Deutschland Managing Director Frank Gawantka.

3.1Seven planned data centres absent from Luxembourg's national energy and climate plan
Grid operator Creos data indicates seven data centre projects with reserved connection capacity that are not included in the national energy and climate plan (PNEC). Five identified projects account for 365MW and two preliminary requests add 70MW, for a total of roughly 470 MVA of reserved capacity, of which only about 5% is currently used; future projects represent 88% of the total. Identified developers include Google (Bissen), LuxConnect and Post, with four further projects unnamed. Estimated annual consumption of these facilities ranges from 1.94 to 3.14 TWh, equal to 18.5%–30% of the 10.45 TWh national demand projected for 2040. The PNEC forecasts 25% consumption growth to 2030 but does not incorporate these specific projects.

3.2Decathlon confirms second Luxembourg store and third site under negotiation
Decathlon announced that its second store in Luxembourg will open on 26 September 2026 at the Massen Shopping Center in Weiswampach, in the north of the country. The outlet will cover between 1,050 and 1,200 m² and open seven days a week with an initial staff of 15 to 20. A third site in Luxembourg City is being finalised. Between 90% and 95% of products are priced identically in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, and the company says it delivers across Luxembourg within 24 hours. Planned next steps include a Luxembourg mobile app in early 2027, relay points, second-hand buy-back and refurbishment services, and exploration of same-day delivery in the capital.

3.3Green electricity support scheme cost €111.5m net in 2025
Support for renewable electricity generation produced net costs of €111.5m in 2025, against €68.8m in 2024, an increase of 62%. Gross costs were €136.7m and the state contributed €167.5m, leaving a €16.1m surplus carried into 2026. More than 1 billion kWh were remunerated: wind 443.2 million kWh, solar 279.6 million kWh and waste wood 154.5 million kWh. Total renewable production reached 1,711 GWh in 2025, 17% below the 2,062 GWh projected in the national energy and climate plan, with wind at 467 GWh against 699 GWh expected and solar at 627 GWh, above target. From January 2026 the mechanism is financed directly from the state budget rather than through consumer contributions.

3.4CSSF imposes no fine after Gazprombank Luxembourg bond trades
Luxembourg's financial regulator, the CSSF, concluded an examination of bond trading by four senior managers at Gazprombank's Luxembourg office. According to the report, the individuals took private loans from their own bank to buy discounted European-held Gazprom bonds and exchange them for full-value Russian replacement bonds under a mechanism created after EU sanctions, with more than 50 transactions and potential gains above €9m. The exchanges involved Russia's National Settlement Depository, an entity under EU sanctions. The CSSF found the bank had breached internal rules prohibiting personal employee accounts but identified no further misconduct and imposed no financial penalty. An EU official quoted in the report described the arrangement as circumvention of sanctions and called for a criminal investigation in Luxembourg.

3.5Luxair presents first two owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft
Luxair formally presented its first two company-owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft at the maintenance hangar at Luxembourg Airport on 28 August 2026. Each aircraft has 186 seats, consumes about 20% less fuel than the aircraft it replaces and produces about 50% less noise than a conventional Boeing 737. Luxair reports savings of about €1.4m per aircraft compared with existing planes. The airline has ordered 12 new-generation 737s with options for two more, within a fleet renewal programme valued at over €1 billion; the remainder of the current fleet is to be replaced by the mid-2030s. 3.6Kyndryl Luxembourg and staff delegation agree restructuring plan
Kyndryl Luxembourg, the US infrastructure and digital services company based in Bertrange, reached agreement with its staff delegation on a social plan. The number of job losses was reduced by roughly one third from the 24 posts initially announced, to approximately 16. The agreement includes measures more favourable than those required by law. Separately, around 150 employees are transferring from BIL to Kyndryl; the company stated these transfers are unaffected by the restructuring and that transferred staff keep their existing conditions. Kyndryl stated it remains committed to Luxembourg and that the restructuring is unrelated to the BIL partnership.

3.7Consumer body reports housing and construction disputes at 53% of caseload
The Union luxembourgeoise des consommateurs reported handling 2,717 housing and construction cases in 2025, equal to 53.2% of all complaints received. Rental disputes rose 39.9% over three years, from 792 cases in 2022 to 1,108 in 2025, while co-ownership disputes rose 55.6%, from 196 to 305. A review of 19 court decisions since 2023 on construction defects found a median of about 20 months between filing and judgment. Recurring subjects were water infiltration, structural cracks, unfinished work and defective installations, often triggered when contractors sought payment on disputed work. In several cases owners lost despite documented defects, on procedural grounds or failure to establish liability. No reforms were announced in connection with the report.

3.8Fidence acquires Mauritian services group Mitco
Luxembourg-based business services group Fidence, backed by the Amethis investment fund, announced the acquisition of Mitco, a Mauritius-based company founded in 1993 and previously owned by Ciel Finance. Mitco reports annual revenue of approximately $5.5m and adds around 90 staff to Fidence. The deal extends Fidence's footprint to Mauritius and the Seychelles, bringing the group to eight locations including Luxembourg, France, Morocco, the UAE and Switzerland. Mitco CEO Mahen Govinda retains his position and becomes a Fidence shareholder. Regulatory approvals in both jurisdictions were obtained before the announcement. This is Fidence's third acquisition since the group was formed in March 2025.
